Ms. Shigg, Associate Attorney, represents insurance carriers, self-insured employers and public entities in all aspects of workers’ compensation.
Before joining Michael Sullivan & Associates, Ms. Shigg held several positions simultaneously. She worked as an independent practitioner in Los Angeles handling intellectual property matters for entertainment industry clients, and also served as Licensing Coordinator for David Rose Publishing in Studio City, researching and drafting licensing agreements for the company’s music catalog.
She was an Admissions Specialist at Western State College of Law in Irvine, where she represented the school at prelaw conferences nationwide, analyzed admission trends and developed strategies to increase student applications. She also served as Executive Assistant for the California Copyright Conference in Sherman Oaks, fostering client relationships, maintaining and analyzing the member database and implementing post-conference report protocols.
At Revolt Media and TV in Hollywood, Ms. Shigg was a Legal Intern who handled a variety of responsibilities for the music cable TV network, including location, production, indemnity and talent agreements; music licenses and DJ contracts; and copyright, trademark and other intellectual property matters, working with both internal and external counsel.
Ms. Shigg also served as Legal Intern for Gary A. Watson and Associates in Los Angeles, conducting research, drafting documents and preparing hearing exhibits on labor and employment law for the firm’s entertainment clients. She conducted client intake and witness interviews as well.
Ms. Shigg received her Juris Doctor degree from Western State College of Law in Fullerton, where she earned the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in Law of Vice, the Alumni Network Professionalism Award, the Best Appellate Argument at the Appellate Lawyers Association National Moot Court Competition and was a member of the Second-Place Team in that competition. She was vice president of the Moot Court Team. Ms. Shigg received her undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Howard University in Washington, D.C.
