Mr. Naasz, Senior Attorney, represents insurance carriers, self-insured employers and public entities in all aspects of workers’ compensation. His legal expertise is enhanced by his certification by the IEA as a Workers’ Compensation Claims Administrator, and by the OSIP as a Self-Insurance Administrator.
Before joining Michael Sullivan & Associates, Mr. Naasz was an Associate Attorney with Coleman, Chavez & Associates in Roseville, representing clients in workers’ compensation defense. He was also an Associate Attorney with Bredfeldt, Odukoya & Suarez in Irvine before relocating to open that firm’s Northern California office in Sacramento. In both locations he practiced exclusively workers’ compensation defense.
As a Claims Examiner III for Sedgwick Claims Management Services in Orange, Mr. Naasz specialized in workers’ compensation, managing complex cases from claims opening to closure. His portfolio included prominent, highly litigated cases for clients including Providence Health Systems, Sunrise Senior Living and Public Storage. He conducted detailed investigations, coordinated surveillance, mentored claims trainees and produced detailed claims reports for employers and brokers.
Mr. Naasz was a Senior Workers’ Compensation Claims Representative for Gallagher Bassett in Aliso Viejo, also concentrating on complex cases. He investigated suspicious claims and conducted direct settlement negotiations with applicant and defense attorneys.
At ESIS in Fremont, Mr. Naasz was a Workers’ Compensation Claims Examiner, where his responsibilities included three-point contact, managing medical treatment and administering benefits. His career in the insurance industry began as an Auto Liability Adjuster for Mercury Insurance Group in Riverside, where he handled all aspects of motor vehicle accident claims.
Mr. Naasz received his Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Whittier Law School in Costa Mesa, where he was on the Dean’s List for three years as well as the editorial staff of the Whittier Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where he was on the Dean’s List as well. Mr. Naasz also holds an Associate degree from Mt. San Jacinto College in San Jacinto.
