Ms. Garcia, Senior Attorney, represents self-insured employers, third-party administrators and insurance carriers in all aspects of workers’ compensation defense. She develops the legal strategy for cases from their inception through resolution, and appears before WCABs throughout Northern California.
Before joining Michael Sullivan & Associates, Ms. Garcia was an Associate Attorney with Mullen & Filippi in San Francisco. Practicing workers’ compensation defense exclusively, she developed expertise in matters of contribution, LC 132a and serious & willful claims, AOE/COE disputes, reimbursements and coverage issues. Throughout her tenure there, she conducted seminars for clients and third-party administrators on current issues in workers’ compensation law.
At Gale, Sutow & Associates in Novato, Ms, Garcia was an Associate Attorney litigating complex contribution claims, and numerous cases involving disputes over utilization review, independent medical review and medical provider networks. Her caseload also included asbestos claims and those involving diminished future earning capacity. As an Associate Attorney at Dietz, Gilmor & Chazen in San Francisco, Ms. Garcia became fully immersed in workers’ compensation defense, appearing before WCABs throughout Northern and Central California.
Ms. Garcia received her Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Whittier Law School in Costa Mesa, where she was on the Dean’s List for three years. She was a recipient of the Dean’s Merit Scholarship as well as a C. Edwin Baker Public Interest Fellowship. She was also a Staff Member of the Law Journal of Child and Family Advocacy. She earned her undergraduate degree from Santa Clara University in California.
