Ms. Romero, Associate Attorney, represents self-insured employers, third-party administrators and corporations in all aspects of workers’ compensation. Her experience as a former applicants’ attorney affords her a big-picture perspective of the workers’ compensation landscape.

Before joining Michael Sullivan & Associates, Ms. Romero represented applicants at Gaylord & Nantais in Long Beach, where she managed several hundred case files, and refined her skills in client relations, negotiating settlements and conducting and defending depositions of medical professionals. She appeared before WCABs throughout Southern California. Previous to that position, she was In-House Counsel for Zenith Insurance Co. in Orange, defending insurers, employers and third-party administrators against workers’ compensations claims. Known for resolving matters with dispatch, she devised case strategy, and conducted discovery including workplace witness investigations and interviews.

At Kegel Tobin & Truce in Long Beach, Ms. Romero was a Defense Attorney in workers’ compensation, managing cases from inception through resolution, including 132a and serious and willful claims. She was recognized for her superior communication with clients, opposing counsel and claims representatives. There, too, her abilities were informed by her previous experience as an Applicants’ Attorney at Perona Langer Beck Serbin and Mendoza in Long Beach, where she began to specialize in workers’ comp litigation and handled a significant caseload.

Ms. Romero was an Associate Attorney at Hines Smith Carder Dincel Bland in Costa Mesa, practicing construction defect litigation for which she performed extensive research on complex legal issues. She began her legal career at The Ryan Law Firm in Pasadena, where she was an Associate Attorney working on a variety of civil litigation cases, including personal injury, estate planning, family law, real estate and business/employment law, including ERISA claims and bankruptcy.

Ms. Romero received her Juris Doctor degree from Whittier Law School in Costa Mesa, where she was Vice President of the Student Bar Association and Auction Chair of the Whittier Public Interest Law Foundation. She was a member of the Trial Advocacy Honors Board, from which she received an award for Best Cross-Examination. She received a Dean’s Merit Scholarship and a Whittier Public Interest Law Foundation grant. Ms. Romero received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she was on the Dean’s Honor List.
