Mr. Ballard, associate attorney, represents insurance carriers, self-insured employers, and public entities in all aspects of workers’ compensation.
Prior to joining Michael Sullivan & Associates, Mr. Ballard was an associate attorney for Ghitterman, Ghitterman & Feld where he practiced workers compensation defense.
Previously, Mr. Ballard was the chief trial deputy for the Santa Barabara Public Defender’s Office. He has also worked as a deputy district attorney for Riverside County. Mr. Ballard began his California legal career as a deputy public defender for the Federal Defenders of San Diego.
His experience on both sides of criminal law, as well as his experience in workers compensation, uniquely situates Mr. Ballard to see both sides of a case and advocate in anticipation of opposing counsels’ potential strategies. Moreover, he tried 39 jury trials to verdict in his criminal career, and he understands the importance of being willing to litigate a matter zealously in the pursuit of justice when settlement as failed.
Mr. Ballard received his Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law. He also holds a B.A. in psychology from the University of Arizona, Tucson.
