Shiredee Mecija, associate partner, represents employers, insurance carriers, self-insured entities, public agencies, and corporations in all phases of workers’ compensation matters, from initial case evaluation through resolution.
Before joining Michael Sullivan & Associates, Ms. Mecija served as partner at Lewis, Brisbois, Bisgaard, and Smith. There, she specialized in the defense of employers and insurance carriers in workers’ compensation matters, including preparation of pleadings, petitions, motions, trial briefs, discovery, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation. She also appeared at the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board to litigate cases, performed extensive legal research, and supervised associate attorneys and law clerks. Prior to that, Ms. Mecija practiced as an attorney at the Law Office of Douglas and Garey, LLP.
Ms. Mecija earned her J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law, during which time she received a CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Legal Research and Writing. She received her B.A. in Political Science from University of Southern California.
